process Communications are driven by the audience, culture, and environment. What is your message? Who are you communicating it to? Is it getting through? Have you identified new opportunities in other markets or demographics? Do you want to increase your brand recognition and your profits? Clear and compelling communications motivate measurable results. EDChicago develops design solutions that increase the impact of your message, and the recognition and visibility of your business. The goal is to provide integrated, expandable, and consistent designs that will enhance your communications and your business. method The method is based on a five step process: P proposal 1 development 2 refinement 3 construction 4 production |
goals of the method P proposal Client and designer identify design needs, then collaborate to establish a specific strategy or project and an understanding of the creative process. We develop objectives, carve out a scope, develop a timeline and expectations, and estimate and negotiate fees. 1 development Examine existing communications, identity/branding, and messages. Research and identify clients audiences (i.e. present and future shareholders, clients, employees, competitors, etc.) Seek understanding of perceptions of audiences past, present, and future. Adhere to clients business approach, mission, and/or vision statements. Seek client's feedback. Based on these findings, strategically compile and prioritize goals to more effectively develop preliminary design solutions. Outcome Presentation of sketches to identify a preliminary design and direction. 2 refinement Confirm goals and target audiences. Detail and hone the approved preliminary sketches of the design development phase. Outcome Presentation of the look and feel of the design direction identified in design development phase. 3 construction Based on approvals and feedback of previous phases, design, develop, build, and/or post a fully functional design solution(s). The purpose of this phase is to proofread content, identify errors and oversights, and test the solutions prior to production. Outcome Basically, the products of this phase confirm that audiences are targeted and that business goals are adhered to. This phase produces varied forms of products from a draft of brand/identity guidelines (which provides deliberate uses of logo/identity to be consistent with branding issues) to a fully functional web site on a secured development server (invited audiences only, testing and approval prior to posting). 4 production The purpose of this phase is to implement the approved and tested design solution(s) to a real world application, either tangible or virtual. Outcome The products of this phase also vary. They could be printed capabilities brochures, letterhead, banners, CD packaging, fully functional web site, etc. To see examples of my work go to the portfolio section. |
